Keeping Water Drinkable in Gitanmaax and Moricetown Reservoirs
September 5, 2017
In July 2017, Valard Dive Services took advantage of the long summer days to inspect and clean potable water reservoirs for the districts Gitanmaax and Moricetown, located near New Hazelton, BC.
Removing accumulated sediment and ensuring functionality of reservoirs is vital to keeping drinking water safe. However, reservoir diving poses risks for contamination and require a rigid operations system to mitigate risks of pollution. This includes having the diver completely sealed off in specialized hazmat suit, pressure washed and disinfected before entering the water.
Our team worked carefully to vacuum out particulates, which normally settle at the bottom of reservoirs (in some cases this is over a foot deep) and provide a thorough inspection to assess the tanks' condition.
