On Board with BC Ferries in August 2018
September 1, 2018
When BC Ferries called for assistance in Prince Rupert, we jumped on board for the opportunity to work on one of their fleet, the Northern Adventure, which has a passenger and crew capacity of 500 and a car capacity of 87. For both BC Ferries and Valard Dive Services (VDS), safety is the number one priority and we understand that regular maintenance on equipment, devices and parts is critical for a vessel to sail smoothly and safely.
In order to maintain their transport schedule, this job demanded a quick turnaround for BC Ferries, so it was conducted during passenger loading at the Prince Rupert Fairview Terminal. It took a focused effort from both sides with their engineers providing direction bycommunicating with the divers, as they worked on the giant propellers, through our high definition video system.
As soon as the ferry was loaded, we were out of the water. It’s this kind of teamwork and coordination that gets the job done efficiently and effectively, while keeping safety first.
